FISHING REPORT - Durban - 26th August 2014.
What a terrible day for fishing, the sea was green and icy cold, the current was screaming and a stiff NE wind was blowing. Swells were also rather large with some real biggies out deep after the main ledge. We tried for Tuna first and all we got for our efforts was a Bonnie of 2.5Kgish. Bottom fishing was even worse and all we got was 1 decent Soldier. The highlight of the trip was the Whales out deeper, there was a lot everywhere and they were all breaching, anywhere you looked you saw whales breaching. There was a fair amount of bird activity and we passed a few Dolphins on our way back into port. I was really bummed about the fishing, non the less it was still great to be out in my office amidst nature. Love it so much.

FISHING REPORT - Durban - 17 August 2014
FISHING REPORT 17 AUGUST 2014: Went out early this morning on Big Foot for a short fishing session, we left at 5am and started looking for some Tuna with no results, on the way back we stopped for some bottoms and got good Copper Bream. Sea was not so pleasant, not terrible but the NE was starting to blow, we got back just after 9am. Am glad we started so early and got back as the wind got hectic later on and am sure the sea stood on its head. Whales activity was wild, and there were a lot of sea birds around, we saw 3 types of Albatross, Skuas, Petrels, Terns and Gannets. We also came across a large group of small cuttle fish.

Spring
SPRING: Its only mid August and the first signs of spring are showing, yesterday I saw the 1st Yellow Billed Kite which tells me that Game Fish will start entering our estuaries to spawn. Time to get the spinning tackle ready.
