OFFSHORE FISHING REPORT - 16th July 2015 - Durban

OFFSHORE FISHING REPORT - 16th July 2015 - Durban
It was a long 12hr day and even though the weather was great the sea was a little lumpy. I struggled to find any kind of thermocline. We hunted from deep to shallow. Water was cold under 21deg.C and crystal clear.
For all that effort and long hours we only hooked up 4 Yellowfin Tuna for the day.

OFFSHORE FISHING REPORT - 14th July 2015 - DURBAN

OFFSHORE FISHING REPORT - 14th July 2015 - DURBAN
We launched early and made our way out to the deep in search of some Yellowfin Tuna, I was not optimistic as the Tuna have not been around like they should be at this time of year which has been very depressing for me. None the less I started the hunt looking for all the usual Tuna indicators when I found a narrow thermocline out in the deep waters and decided that it was our best option to work this thermocline. The water was cold, under 21deg.C and crystal clear, I came across a lot of small showings and saw some sprats about and focused in on this area. The strategy paid off and the area yielded us 8 Yellowfin Tuna making for a grand day. Yesterday was bitterly cold and even with layers and layers of clothing on I still felt cold and could not get comfortable, even once back on shore it took me at least an hour to thaw out. Brrrrr.

OFFSHORE FISHING REPORT - 4th July 2015 - Durban

OFFSHORE FISHING REPORT - 4th July 2015 - Durban
Saturday had stunning conditions is the morning with a very light NW wind, later in the morning the wind turned to a SW and things got bumpy, I was already safe at home when the SW started pumping. We trolled out to the reefs landing 1 Bonnie and then we bottom fished with good success, we got a lot of nice fish but nothing to write home about.
