Fishing Report - 1st-4th January 2015 - Durban

Fishing Report - 1st-4th January 2015 - Durban
What a horrible start to 2015 weather wise, we started out on News Years Day with swinging winds changing in all directions and by 06h30 we had a 35knt Easterly so we did some drop shot in the bay, the wind then died down at around 08h00 and so we proceeded out the harbour a second time and halfway out the Easterly started blowing again and so we called it a day. On the 3rd we launched at 06h00 and there was a moderate NE wind blowing but after the rain fro Old Years Eve and the Easterly we found dirty water all over but with a change in Tactics managed 2 Yellowfin Tuna of around 8Kg. On the 4th we launched at 04h00 and the water was chocolate brown the deeper we went the colder it got and the water remained dirty, the weather forecast told us a story of stunning weather but there was a very strong South Wind which just got worse as the day progressed, I employed the same tactics as the previous day for dirty water and again we got 2 Yellowfin Tuna of around 8Kg. I had an afternoon trip booked for the 4th which I cancelled as the wind by then was blowing at almost 30knts. Sigh, this season has been tough so far with mostly strong winds, choppy seas, screaming currents, dirty water and cold water, we have been getting good fish but have had to work very hard for them. My body is taking strain and I hope that we get our great summer conditions soon.
