FISHING REPORT - Durban - 02/11/2014

FISHING REPORT - Durban - 02/11/2014
Seems this last front chased all the warm water away as the water temperature yesterday was just over 20deg.C. The weather forecast was accurate about when the rain would stop, but it got the wind predictions totally wrong. We launched late after the rain stopped, in the morning the sea was very choppy with an East wind, but as the day progresses the wind died ...down and overall the seas conditions were good. We stayed shallow and fished the 50-70m area making our way past Umdloti when we hooked up what I think was a small Marlin on 50lb tackle. After about 45-50 minutes we had the fish running deep maybe 30m from the boat when there was a big swirl and then the line went limp. The line was frayed as if it was rubbed off by sand paper. My thought is that a 2nd Marlin caught our line with its bill. After that we managed 3 Yellowfin Tuna for the day.
