FISHING REPORT - Durban - Early October 2014

FISHING REPORT - Durban - Early October 2014
The last 2 trips have been disappointing and the inshore Durban waters are still very cold, usually by this time of year they have warmed up, we have not been able to get out to the continental shelf where the warm waters are as the seas have been to big and when we reach the main Agulhas current it is like a wall. And so we have had to satisfy ourselve...s with some small Bonnies and bottom fishing leaving me frustrated. The Whales are still around in good numbers and I have seen a few Calves also, we have also seen a lot of Pygmy Dolphins by the 1st drop off. Bird activity has been dismal. On a lighter note; on our last trip we went looking around the ships and when crossing the bow of one ship someone blew the horn, it is so loud and you don't just hear it, you feel it. I got such a fright, I nearly jumped clean off my boat. All my hairs stood straight up and I think some shot off like porcupine quills. My whole body tingled, my heart was racing. I felt alive.
