FISHING REPORT - Durban - 6th September 2014

FISHING REPORT - Durban - 6th September 2014
We went out today, water was very cold sitting just over 20deg.C and it was a horrid light green colour. The NE wind was blowing and a N-S current was screaming, the sea was choppy with the occasional big swell. We spent about 3hrs looking for some cleaner warmer water in hope of a Tuna but had no luck and then we settled down for some bottoms, due to t...he current we fished on the shallow reefs. Bottom fishing was Ok and we landed 19 fish. Mostly we got slinger and all were decent sizes, we also landed a copper bream and some soldiers. Interesting to note that we hooked no undersize fish at all today, I could also see on the finder that the fish were hugging the bottom very close. We saw 2 whales blow but no real activity and when on the drift doing bottoms we had a solo dolphin swim around the boat, and we also saw a nice large logger head turtle. On the way back to port we saw a very large Zambezi (Bull Shark) and some more dolphins in the bay. Bird activity was very quiet with very few birds spotted.
